DIE HARD TRILOGY

If there's one Die Hard game that everybody remembers, it's Die Hard Trilogy. Released in 1996 by Fox Interactive for the PlayStation (and later Windows and Saturn), it's actually three games in one; an action game, an arcade lightgun game and a racing game. That could be a warning sign as to the game's quality right there, but Die Hard Trilogy is actually regarded as one of the better movie tie-ins out there, and the huge number of sales reflect that.

MONSTER TRUCK MADNESS

Other than the sport of Football that's such a misnomer the rest of the world puts the country of origin in the name, there's nothing as quintessentially American as monster trucks. It's loud, supersized and full of competitive spectacle. In 1996, Terminal Reality in partnership with Microsoft developed Monster Truck Madness for Windows '95. If you though world of trucks with really big wheels couldn't get any crazier, you've not seen nothin' yet.

LOTUS ESPRIT TURBO CHALLENGE TRILOGY

In the age before polygons were able to give us fully realised environments, I wasn't too keen on the racing genre. Back then, I felt the limitations of 2D weren't able to adequately recreate the sensation of driving a car, at least not in games that positioned the camera behind the vehicle instead of a top-down viewpoint. The one exception (at least in my collection) was Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge.

Trying Some Racing Game Key Terms. Are they clear?

After playing Wolfgang Kramer's Top Race the other day, I'm thinking about racing games again. In Top Race, each card moves several colored cars through the track as far forward as possible. Because you're betting on the race results as well as controlling your own car, you're still invested in the outcome even if your car is trailing behind. Controlling opponent's cars is very valuable and fun way to stay engaged throughout the game, which is a common problem in racing games.

I got to thinking about how to capture that same versatility and engagement with a card-driven racing game without the betting element. One way I thought about was using conditional positions instead of specific colors. For example, say I establish these key terms.

• You: A car or cars you control.
• Straggler: The car in last place.
• Leader: The car in first place.
• Chaser: The car in second-place.
• Follower: The car immediately behind your car.
• Pacer: The car immediately ahead of your car.

The cards would list a series of actions that must be resolved in that order. Each action moves the indicated car forward a number of spaces on the track. For example:

BURST!
You: 3-6
Leader: 1-2

COMEBACK!
You: 3-4
Straggler: 6

JOSTLE!
Pacer: 1-2
You: 4
Follower: 1

PUSH!
Leader: 1
You: 2
Chaser: 3

Each action is resolved in order, so you could use a card in some fun power moves.

• For example, if you played BURST! to put yourself in first-place, then you are the Leader, therefore you could move 1-2 extra spaces.
• If you play COMEBACK! and you're still in last place, then you could give yourself a huge sprint of +6 spaces forward.
• If you play PUSH! to put yourself in second-place, then you're the Chaser and can move yourself an extra 3 spaces.

My main concern at this point is that it's too confusing to make up game terms for these positions or if there are already real-world racing terms for these positions. If you're aware of any or have suggestions for more clear alternatives, please share!

GRAN TURISMO ANDROID PSP GAME

Gran Turismo also previously known as Gran Turismo 4 Mobile,Gran Turismo Mobile, Gran Turismo 5 Portable and Gran Turismo Portable) PlayStation Portable (PSP) game developed by Polyphony Digital. The game was announced at the E3 Sony press conference on May 11, 2004, the same conference where Sony announced the original PSP. Following five years of delays and speculation, it made a reappearance at E3 on June 2, 2009 in a playable form. It was released on October 1, 2009 as one of the launch titles for the new PSP Go. As of March, 2013, Gran Turismo has sold 4.22 million units, making it one of the best-selling PSP games. On June 1, 2010, the game was rereleased as part of the Greatest Hits.

AMAZING GRAN TURISMO PSP ISO GAMEPLAY

The game is centered on an open-ended design. The single-player menu presents players with three variables — Mode Selection (Time Trial, Single Race, and Drift Trial), Car Selection, and Track Selection. The player can pick and choose circuits and vehicles, with credits earned based on the difficulty, performance and number of laps they have chosen. Players can select from any number of laps, one to 99. There are 45 tracks (including layout variations) plus the added bonus of reverse on most tracks, which takes the track number close to 75. For the first time in the series, the game features the use of custom soundtracks that enables players to play their own songs while racing, but this option must first be unlocked by completing section B or C of the Driving Challenges. The music tracks can be used for offline or online races.


The Bugatti Veyron is one of the new supercars in Gran Turismo PSP.
There are some hidden tracks which are removed prior to release (notably Smokey Mountain and Tahiti Circuit from Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec - both which initially debuted in 2 with some differences). These tracks are only accessible via PSPs that have custom firmware and running Gameshark-like programs, and some issues have been reported with them. Gran Turismo features 833 vehicles, each modeled accurately and statistics derived from their real life counterparts. Players will start with a low-powered car, but can upgrade as they progress through the game. The dealerships available change after every other race, so players won't always be able to buy what they are looking for.[6] Like Tourist Trophy, there are only four cars (3 are opponents) feature in a race at any one time. There is an interior view available for each car — however, it is not detailed. For multiplayer, players have access to four-player local wireless play across a handful of modes, with various options that allow players of all skill types to play together. There is no online play (although it supports adhoc Party) nor are there any online leaderboards for time trial times or the ability to share ghost laps with other players.
